It’s a calendula party!

I there!

Long time, no post, I know. Sometimes life doesn’t go the way you would expect. I had zero time to write, dividing myself between work, study and personal life, but hey… I have a plan, I’m going forword step by step and I’m really proud of myself.
We all just have to figure out how to go with the flow, and I know that I’m not alone in this struggle.

So, without further ado, here I am to talk about a very floral couple, that I’m REALLY loving lately, and the amazing random thing is that both have… calendula petals in it. YAS! As strange as it would sound, this element is crucial for the benefits of the formulas.

Here they are, one is a shampoo and the second product is a face mask!

I decided to start with the Calendula&Aloe Vera soothing hydration masque, because it’s a relatively long favourite of mine. Kiehl’s launched the product a couple of years ago and I’m obsessed since.

DISCLAIMER (if you know what it means you can skip XD) If you know me well enough you know that I’m a Kiehl’s employee and whenever I write about a Kiehl’s product I ALWAYS have to disclaim this: I’m not working here on this blog, I’m just talking about things I really like. I always feel the urge to remember this, ’cause it’s really important to me. I discovered Kiehl’s thanks to my writing and social media, and I absolutely don’t want the honesty of my blog to be affected by my daytime job.

Not working, just passion here (btw, I’m really lucky, I know, but I don’t want to brag, so let’s move on).

As you can see from the photo, the masque contains some lovely calendula petals, that are not there just for the sake of how much they’re cute, but it makes the formula even more potent in calming the skin. I’m so in love with this baby even if at a first impression it could seem the most plain and boring mask of the selection… but not really.

It saves my skin especially when I get red (which happens A LOT) plus, it hydrates like crazy, thanks to the aloe vera, without adding oils that can clog my poor pores. It’s really rare to find a mask that combines an hydrating property with a potent calming one. I literally feel like my skin is relaxed after using it.

Just a suggestion: you’ll read on the instructions that you’re supposed to keep the mask on your skin for five minutes before rinsing. Well, if you have time, keep it a little bit longer, it doesn’t hurt.

Try it during summer time, after a long beach day and you’ll fall in love with it (especially if you keep it in the fridge, it adds an ultra refreshing esperience)

SOURCE ESSENTIELLE Calendula flowers and chamomile flowers delicate shampoo

While the Calendula mask is a long time favourite, this shampoo is a recent find, and I’m already in love.

It’s part of a new L’Oréal professionnel line, called “source essentielle” that combines the amazing performance of the regular professionnel line, with a list of ingredients that are at least 80% naturally sourced… IMPRESSIVE.
I discovered the line one month ago while I was in the L’Oréal Academy in Rome for a training day, thanks to an amazing display that was REALLY esthetic (especially for a person, like me, that is obsessed by flowers).
You can imagine my happiness when I had the chance to get my hands on one of those.

I chose the Calendula flower and chamomile flower delicate shampoo. Since the scalp is still skin, they usually have the same concerns, but we think about it less.
One of my 2019 skincare resolutions is to treat my scalp like a would treat my skin, so of course I opted for a delicate shampoo. I expected it to be delicate… but I didn’t expect it to be SO good for the length. My hair is so shiny and soft… the line claims exactly what the shampoo does: same performance of a regular silicon based shampoo, just with more natural ingredients! My gosh, I feel so lucky to have discovered this gem.

And yes… it contains calendula petals.

PLUS, the packaging is so lit. It’s square so that the stock and transport is easier and it promotes less waste in extra boxes. The bottle is rechargable too! You can go to the nearest salon that carries this line and you can refill the bottle with your favourite product up to three times! Isn’t it amazing? I’m so enthusiastic!

You can find the Calendula & Aloe vera soothing hydration masque in all the Kiehl’s shops/shopinshop + the website ( –> your country).
The Calendula flower and Chamomile flower delicate shampoo can be found in salons! On their website ( you’ll find the shampoo bar locator.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Tell me if you tried the products and what you think about them!

Rainbows and unicorns,
