Hi girls!!
Today I want to show you something I really really enjoyed in the last month… DIY scrubs! This is the first type I tried to craft and I’m stunned by the results. First of all, it doesn’t have nothing less than the expensive scrubs you can find out there in the market: in the presentation, in the smell and in the results. Second thing to be happy about, you know EXACTLY what you’re putting in it, and you only need a few ingredients.
To create the Lavender sugar scrub you’ll need:
- 3 tb of coconut oil
- 5 tb of sugar
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 tb of dry lavender flowers (optional)
Start with warming up the coconut oil 30 seconds in the microwave and then add sugar, the essential oil, and the flowers. Mix all the ingredients together and then store in an air tight mason jar to preserve the fragrance!
The lavender essential oil is not only relaxing, but it’s also extremely soothing for your skin… good for the soul and body! How amazing is that?! The sugar gently exfoliates and the coconut oil has a billion of benefits for the skin, especially the long term moisturizing effects, including preventing stretchmarks.
The actual lavender flowers are totally optional, but it adds a hint of even more natural fragrance and properties. I found them in a local european chain called Tiger.
For a nice gift presentation I also used blackboard heart-shaped labels, founded in a local craft store.
Once I realized how easy it is to create magical stuff like this, my head exploded with ideas and combinations of ingredients… I can’t even hold my hands from trying other scrubs. Luckly something stopped me for today… I run out of coconut oil (Epic fail motiv… lol).
I’ll share with you other goodies as soon as I can get my hands on more coconut oil XD. I perfectly know that scrubs can be made out of other types of oil, which I actually own (such as olive oil, almond oil ecc…), but the special thing about coconut oil is that it gives a special and totally unique texture to scrubs, due to its semi-hard (yet soft) consistency. So I’ll keep using the coconut oil as the main moisturizing agent for a while ^_^ .
Please tell me if you try (or you already tried) this recipe and if you like it!!
Kisses, flowers and summer days,
